Besides riding and cheering, I love writing, sewing, art, and just normal teen stuff like hanging out with friends. Since this is about what's on our minds I want to see what you guys have to say about something.
WPA (Woment Pay All) is coming up in about five weeks. It's our school's dance where the girls ask the guys and pay for everything. I'm freaking out! One of my best freinds got a boyfreind over winter break and she is taking him. I'm really happy for her but for a while it got pretty nausiating (although that's over) and I can't help but be jealous that she's set and already dreaming up the perfect dress. The other two haven't asked anyone yet but we know that one is going to and he has confirmed that he will say yes. The other isn't even sure if she wants to deal with it. Basically, the solo foursome is now almost completely not so single.
I was just going to ask a guy bud but all of them that I would have been comfortable asking have dates. I'm down to a few options. One is a guy I've liked since seventh grade. He's like a guy straight out of one of Catherine's books; tall, blonde, peircing blue eyes, sweet, a little out there at times (ADD),he has that sexy, lopsided smile too and basically seems perfect beyond beleif. Two years ago we'd text for hours on end but things happened and we stopped. It's been over a year since I said anything but "Hey" to him. For months I've told the girls that I was over him and I even had myself convinced for a while but I saw him in the hall today for the first time in months and my heart started going and the butterflies started their relentless attack on my stomach. He's also one year up from me and I ride with his sister.
Another is a guy in my Honors English class who isn't near as hot but he's cute and makes me laugh. I'm not sure if anything would ever happen with it but I think he'd be fun to go with and from the conversations I've overheard, he doesn't have a date yet. I don't even have his number or anything so I'd have to ask for it unless I want to ask him in class which could mean disaster. Although, if I do decide to I think I'll just ask him to play hangman and have the answer be WPA.
There are a couple of other options but those are the main two. Now besides the issue of deciding who to ask the big problem here is that I'm terrified of being turned down. My mom just keeps saying "What's the worst thing that could happen?" and the answer, tears. I know it's not like I wouldn't get over it (I bounce back really quickly) but I just keep telling myself that it might be better to just stay home and keep in my head that he would have said yes. It's safer that way but pathetic too, and uncharacteristic. I'm the one who always gives the relationship advice yet I can never really seem to do it myself when it counts. I've never asked a guy out before and the one time I almost did I heard him telling another girl before homecoming who asked him if he had a date yet "I don't date freshmen." which was a major scare because I had come sooo close to asking him.
My friends just keep saying "Just ask a guy hon, it's not that hard. You're a cheerleader, you rule journalism, and your gorgeous and fun." but I just don't think I can do it.
I guess what I'm asking is, which one do you think I should ask and how am I going to get up the courage to do it? HELP!It's one thing to have the horse that wins all the ribbons for you. It's quite another to have that same horse look at you like you hung that stars. It's an inspiration worth putting into words. |
