I know I posted the thing about the dance a long time ago but here's how it all ended up. I didn't end up going with either butterflies or the other boy. The guy in my English class said he would have said yes but he had just gotten a girlfriend (they are really cute together) I didn't care at all becuase I just liked him as a friend. To say the least, I realized before I asked that Butterflies would not have been a smart move. He turned out to be an Olympic gold metal awarding jerk. The only problem, I was still dateless. At first I wasn't worried but then one of my best friends came up to me in first hour and said "We didn't think you'd find a date so we didn't book you in for a reservation. We might not be able to make it bigger." THAT did hurt. Mostly because it's not the first time she's turned evil to get what she wanted which this time I'm not even sure what she wanted. To top off that conversation she sent a text to another cheerleader at practice that told me and Rachal to find another group to go with. I just responded by saying that was fine but that I was still going to check with the other girls in the group. To say the least they didn't agree with her but were spineless and didn't want to say anything. I had suspicions about why she didn't want me there, namely that the girl she's been spending the majority of her time with isn't the most classy girl on the planet to say the least.Sure enough, at the dance my freind was grinding on her boyfriend as if her life depended on it and in her mind I think it just might. I ended up going with a guy that I've known all my life from another school and my other best friend. My date ended up being the mystery man who everybody talked about for a week after the dance. I won't lie, he is really cute but I couldn't really see it going anywhere. He's like a brother plus he is sooooo proper. It was really fun for the most part but he didn't want to dance to any of the fast songs and besides our history the only thing we have in common is a higher maturity level than the rest of our generation. After the dance she went back to normal but kept asking who my date was as if that was some sort of right of passage to be her friend or something. Now we talk and stuff but I'm going to try my best not to let her have my heart again because she'll just rip it out again whenever the mood strikes her. That's easier said that done though. We've been inseparable since the beginning of seventh grade and have been through so much more than most friends. To say the least I spent a lot of time worrying about what was happening in the hospital or sitting beside her on the bed after surgery or doing a heart walk of some sort. Those memories are hard to let go of or even to slow down.

It's one thing to have the horse that wins all the ribbons for you. It's quite another to have that same horse look at you like you hung that stars. It's an inspiration worth putting into words.
