LAST EDITED ON Jun-27-10 AT 01:45 AM (EST) Hi, Lynda-Just returned home from a few days off, and want you to know how very sorry about what your family must be enduring at this time. I've been praying for you both, and want you to know I'll continue to do so. Tim is fortunate to have you by his side, and I'm rooting for his quick recovery. Keep me updated, and in the meantime, please try to remember to take good care of yourself, okay? Stay strong and know we're all with you in our hearts. Stephanie Vogelsong stephvogelsong@aol.com |

Oh I figured everyone had heard enough about his recovery, but okay! Today is week 6, and he has been doing pretty good. We see progress every day. Good enough that I am leaving this morning for Orlando (about an hour away) to attend the RWA conference...well I'm not attending the conference, just going for the fun of it and to meet up with some of the gals from SEP's website...and SEP is meeting us today at 2pm, just us! I think we solved Tim's sleep problems as he was having troubles sleeping flat on his back, I got him a 'bed wedge' and it has helped so much! He now spends 90% of the night in bed instead of his recliner. He had a bad weekend (16 - 19th) when our son came from TX to visit, but as the surgeon told him when we saw him on the 20th....that is normal. All those nerve endings he cut through and muscles were coming back to life! They did a chest x-ray and it was good. He has increased his walking (which is hard when it is so hot and humid here) and has gone to the pool in the evenings twice now. He even drove the car for a short distance Sunday. He is better at riding in the car too. He is enjoying going out to dinner and is now eating more. The sad thing was this past Sat. I had to take him into the walk in clinic because his big toe hurt! He had GOUT! The doc said it was caused by the rapid weight loss (about 20 lbs) since surgery which had an effect on his uric acid increase in his body! It seems to be under control now. The surgeon said at week 8 he will see a big difference...and he is looking forward to it. He has reached the point of 'I'm tired of this slow recovery'. But he also warned it would be a good 6 months for full recovery, maybe even longer. His heart rate is doing good (has been high) and is oxygen levels are great...98 - 99%, for one lung that is outstanding! All those prayers worked! Thank you all! Well over all Tim is doing good. The gout seems to be under control and he is starting to put a little weight back on (he has lost so much). He got cleared from his heart doc on Friday...the last of his appointments...for a while! We are trying to decided if he'll be able to make our trip (driving) from FL to CT, then through PA on to his Sub Vet Convention in OH then home (leaving on the 25th of this month and being gone almost 2 weeks!). We did a 'short' trip today to see our friends who live north of Orlando..about 1hr 45min drive. He drove all the way in and did good. We visited for a few hours then took them out to dinner then he drove home. We left home at 10:30am and didn't get home till about 8pm...so it was a long day with no naps for him, but he did pretty good. But....he has had another cough and last night he said he get cold the hot (I said 'welcome to my world!). When we got home I took his temp...yup, it was just below 100! Looks like I'll be running him into the clinic in the morning. But he is feeling so much better and starting to feel so much better...it was 8 weeks this week and they say that is the trning point. Thanks everyone for your concern and all those prayers, I know they worked. LighthouseLady/Lynda East Coast of Central Florida |

Well this morning there was no fever (although he got really hot and sweaty during the night) and the cough is just about gone. So I didn't take him. We did go to the movies to see Eat, Pray, Love and it was great! But I didn't look at how long it was..and it was long, and he got a little uncomfortable sitting in one place so long. But he is doing fine now. Now I have to get through a Colonoscopy on Tues. then we make the decision weather we go or not on the 25th! He is putting back on a little of the weight, so that is good and will have to start watching what he eats...and me too! LighthouseLady/Lynda East Coast of Central Florida |
