Hallelujah and jubilation! Lynda, I am so happy to hear this! Give him a hug from me and all of the Anderons who have been pulling for him, and tell him to save a bowl of that terrific turkey soup for me.

Thank you Kathy, I'm sorry I didn't reply back to your email, but things got crazy there for awhile, but thank you for you concern.

Tim is doing pretty good. He really isn't in pain, only when he coughs and he does that often, my heart just breaks for him. But it is something he needs to do to keep that one remaining lung clear. Hopefully in time he won't be doing it so often.

Hi, Lynda-

Just returned home from a few days off, and want you to know how very sorry about what your family must be enduring at this time.
I've been praying for you both, and want you to know I'll continue to do so. Tim is fortunate to have you by his side, and I'm rooting for his quick recovery.

Keep me updated, and in the meantime, please try to remember to take good care of yourself, okay? Stay strong and know we're all with you in our hearts.

Hugs and prayers coming your way, Lynda. I know how it feels to have your heart catch when you hear your loved one coughing, and if it helps, you and Tim are in my thoughts many times each day. I'm relieved to hear he isn't actually in pain, and the discomfort will lessen over time. Thanks for keeping all of us updated and please, continue to do so. We care and we're all pulling for Tim.

I think yesterday (Sunday) was too much for him. My daughter and 'friend' have been staying here since he came home on Friday and yesterday another couple (my daughter's x-husband and his wife, also friends of ours) came out in the afternoon. I thought I had it under control with keeping the morning 'free' for him to rest, but his brother came by for an 'unannounced visit'.

By the time everyone left about 6pm, Tim was pretty tired! My daughter decided to head back to their camper which is at a park last night so I was 'on duty' for the 1st time by myself. Tim had a rough night with coughing and just kept moving from bed, to recliner, to another chair all night long. It is 8am now and he has already had a nap. So today will be a resting day.

We don't know what other treatments he will need. His surgeon and lung doc don't think he'll even need to see an Oncologest at this point for the cancer, as the report shows they 'got it all'. He will have another PET scan in a few months to be sure though. We see the surgeon tomorrow and the lung doc on July 12th, so we go from there. Right now it is getting his strength back and working is left lung. I wish it were cooler here so I could get him outside walking a little, but it is so blasted HOT and HUMID I even have trouble going outside and walking!

So it is day-by-day for now.

It's hard when so many family members and friends want to visit because they truly care, and everyone pledges to stay for just a short time. Short times morph into longer times, people arrive unannounced, and lots of "short" visits in rapid succession add up to exhaustion for the patient, who doesn't want to be rude and truly wants to see everyone. I'm so glad Tim will be able to rest today, and the news that he will probably not have to see an oncologist is awesome!

The Andersons are all sending good wishes your way.

Tim had a very restful day...to the point of being bored and tired of sitting around all day. But I think he is feeling better. I just hope he sleeps good tonight.

The surgeon's office called to say they don't want to see him tomorrow.it should be 3 weeks from surgery. I told him I'm taking him out for a ride any ways just to get him out of the house for a while.

All those Anderson prayers and from everyone else have helped..thanks.

OMG Lynda, I did not know about Tim. I have not been on the site for a while as I have been having a really rough time with bleeding problems as well as I now have RA in my hips and spine and my sugar has been running high so the doctor could not give me a shot to help ease the pain because it would just make it climb higher. Enough about me, I am worried about you and Tim and I hope he keeps improving. My husband and I both were talking about the two of you the other day and we really enjoyed the short time we had tos pend with you. Keep me informed and I will try and check the boards more often...love ya

Tim had a good day today. I decided he needed to get out, so I took him with me to go to the Post Office...he didn't get out of the car, but at least he got out. Then I suggested we drive to the camp ground where our daughter is camping, and he agreed. I think the motion of the van was a little too much for him as he was hurting by the time we got there.

I found a spot under a big tree (for shade, as it is HOT here) and my daughter came over and sat in the van with us...with the a/c running. He was tired and hurting when we got home, but he felt good.

In the evening he walked to the end of our drive way..which isn't long, but he was outside.

I got a fabulous email from Tim, telling me all about his recovery process. He is so funny. I can't believe you and your daughter are making him hug a duck when he coughs. I cracked up laughing! Only Tim, who is so confident about who he is, would email friends and tell them about that.

Give him a gigantic but careful hug from us, Lynda.

Yes it is funny to see him hugging a duck...Mr. Quacky! Did he send you the photo of him hugging it??? If not I'll have him do it.

The HUGS are getting stonger, but there is less of him to hug..he had lost some weight before the surgery, but has lost alot more since. He is eating and I even have gotten him ice cream and chocolates, but the weight keeps coming off! He is within 2 lbs of when we got married almost 40 years ago...and I worked so hard to put all those pounds on him too!

But he is doing much better each and every day.

If you're stocked up on ice cream and chocolates I'll be right over. I try to limit my purchases of those items, but of course if they are offered to me I must be polite!

Seriously, we are all so thrilled to hear that Tim's recovery is progressing so well. Tell him his duck-hugging routine sounds like a candidate for America's Funniest Home Video show. And tell him this is the time to indulge in his wildest food fantasies and get some of that weight back on.

We're all sending love and prayers.

Over all Tim is doing good. There are good days, then not so good days. He had a busy day on the 4th with raising his flag in the morning and I had 14 of our friends come over to cheer him on and then for coffee and donuts.

Everyone was gone within an hour, so that was good. He rested after that and in the early evening he decided he wanted to go out to dinner at our Mexican place...hey, what's up? Why would a Mexican place be closed on the 4th of July???? He wasn't too happy with that so just stopped in at the local Applebees. He was tired and hurting when we got home.

He said he slept really good last night, but he is not feeling good today. He has a pain in his side that he has never had before...around the ribs. We go to the doc's tomorrow morning so we'll find out what is going on...I'm thinking just healing.

I'm glad he was able to rest on the 4th, and I'm right with him wondering about the Mexican restaurant being closed. I am a huge fan of Mexican food. Keep us updated on how he's doing and I think you're right, the pain is just from healing. Love to all.

He went to the doc's today..saw a nurse. She was very pleased with how he is doing. He'll see the doc in 2 more weeks and if all is good he'll release him.

He sees the lung doc the 12th, and most of our follow up will be with him from then on.

We are going to our Mexican place tonight!

We've been eating a lot of Mexican food lately, Lynda. How did you and Tim enjoy it? It's one of our favorites, along with Chinese.

I'm so glad he continues to gain ground, and grateful that you are keeping us up to date.

Oh I figured everyone had heard enough about his recovery, but okay!

Today is week 6, and he has been doing pretty good. We see progress every day. Good enough that I am leaving this morning for Orlando (about an hour away) to attend the RWA conference...well I'm not attending the conference, just going for the fun of it and to meet up with some of the gals from SEP's website...and SEP is meeting us today at 2pm, just us!

I think we solved Tim's sleep problems as he was having troubles sleeping flat on his back, I got him a 'bed wedge' and it has helped so much! He now spends 90% of the night in bed instead of his recliner.

He had a bad weekend (16 - 19th) when our son came from TX to visit, but as the surgeon told him when we saw him on the 20th....that is normal. All those nerve endings he cut through and muscles were coming back to life! They did a chest x-ray and it was good.

He has increased his walking (which is hard when it is so hot and humid here) and has gone to the pool in the evenings twice now. He even drove the car for a short distance Sunday. He is better at riding in the car too. He is enjoying going out to dinner and is now eating more.

The sad thing was this past Sat. I had to take him into the walk in clinic because his big toe hurt! He had GOUT! The doc said it was caused by the rapid weight loss (about 20 lbs) since surgery which had an effect on his uric acid increase in his body! It seems to be under control now.

The surgeon said at week 8 he will see a big difference...and he is looking forward to it. He has reached the point of 'I'm tired of this slow recovery'. But he also warned it would be a good 6 months for full recovery, maybe even longer.

His heart rate is doing good (has been high) and is oxygen levels are great...98 - 99%, for one lung that is outstanding!

All those prayers worked! Thank you all!

Well over all Tim is doing good. The gout seems to be under control and he is starting to put a little weight back on (he has lost so much).

He got cleared from his heart doc on Friday...the last of his appointments...for a while!

We are trying to decided if he'll be able to make our trip (driving) from FL to CT, then through PA on to his Sub Vet Convention in OH then home (leaving on the 25th of this month and being gone almost 2 weeks!). We did a 'short' trip today to see our friends who live north of Orlando..about 1hr 45min drive. He drove all the way in and did good. We visited for a few hours then took them out to dinner then he drove home. We left home at 10:30am and didn't get home till about 8pm...so it was a long day with no naps for him, but he did pretty good.

But....he has had another cough and last night he said he get cold the hot (I said 'welcome to my world!). When we got home I took his temp...yup, it was just below 100! Looks like I'll be running him into the clinic in the morning.

But he is feeling so much better and starting to feel so much better...it was 8 weeks this week and they say that is the trning point.

Thanks everyone for your concern and all those prayers, I know they worked.

Try some of those great recipes we've had submitted, Lynda, and that should pack some of the weight back on him. I'm afraid they did for me! And yay on the getting rid of doctor appointments for a while.

I do so hope you can make the trip. It sounds wonderful. Tim seems to be seizing the reins (make that the steering wheel) and letting the world know he's ready to conquer it. How did it go at the clinic, by the way? Keep us posted.

Well this morning there was no fever (although he got really hot and sweaty during the night) and the cough is just about gone. So I didn't take him.

We did go to the movies to see Eat, Pray, Love and it was great! But I didn't look at how long it was..and it was long, and he got a little uncomfortable sitting in one place so long. But he is doing fine now.

Now I have to get through a Colonoscopy on Tues. then we make the decision weather we go or not on the 25th!

He is putting back on a little of the weight, so that is good and will have to start watching what he eats...and me too!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow when you go through that procedure, and I'm hoping you decide Tim is well enough to go. The news about the weight gain is good, too. Could that be a tribute to your cooking, Lynda?

I think about the two of you often. Even my husband asks how Tim is doing. he really enjoyed meeting the two of you.
