I have to say sweet nothings. Very close to my heart on my feelings and experiences. Maybe not the same but i can relate.

And Jake makes me want to cry. I love him!

I am currently reading "With you Beside me. A Coulter Family double." With Phantom Waltz and Sweet Nothing's. Almost done with Phantom Waltz and I have teared up SO many times and laughed out loud quite a few times as well. I am loving this book! Now I can't wait to read Sweet nothing's!

I've often read books and wished, like Michelle, that a character was real. Some of them stay with us forever, like Rhett Butler, for example. I wonder, if the option were available, whether women would really like to "create their own man" and choose the characteristics they would like, or whether a "throw of the dice" and see what life brings us would remain more popular. Opinions, ladies?

If the charaters were real, then why would we need to read about them? I think I would rather except the imperfections of my man than live with the perfect man. After all I'm far from perfect too, but am well loved.

And yeah, Jake is probably my favorite too. Isaiah's excellent too.

I would have to say, My husband is as close to perfect as it can get. But If I could clone a Coulter. It would have to be ALL of them. Live dangerously. HAHA!

I'm better at writing someone than talking to them. I have no problem saying what I feel in written form.

While writing, it is easier for me to express myself, possibly because I don't think fast on my feet, and writing gives me time to really chose my words.

I tend to keep alot of feelings bottled in. When i was in school i wrote alot of stories for fun. Just short stories. I always had good amrks in school. Then one day i had a new english teacher and he said. to write a short story about the first day at the new job and to make it interesting. I wrote a story about a girl following in her fathers footsteps in becoming a firewoman. Her father was killed in a fire and her first day was very hard but what she wanted to do. We had no time for research so i used what i knew from tv.(no internet then)

My teacher told me i had an overactive imagination, that i should have kept it simple. He also told me he was a fireman once and not a single woman was there and told me to grow up. And i needed research.

It really put me off and i stopped writing straight away then.I understood i needed research but i had all these ideas in my head,he just wasn't interested.

I threw all ny short stories in the bin and i havent written for 15 years. I even lost interest in my school projects after that.

Don't let that English teacher define the rest of your life, Michelle. You can write. Dust off those dreams of being a writer and go for it. If you doubt your ability, go back and read the contest entry you sent me. And then stop doubting! Not all stories require research. You may have had the misfortune to encounter an English teacher who knows nothing about the creative writing process and who thinks that in order to be good writing, it must be done the way he or she would have done it. They don't want real creative writing, they want little clones. I've heard this so many times before. There are so many dedicated and inspiring teachers out there, but there are a few who without meaning to can do untold damage. Think about it. And then start writing again. And keep us updated on your progress!

If I had to choose the book of Catherines that made me the most emotional it would have to be without a doubt, Seventh Heaven. This story had me crying, laughing, crying again. What Marliee had to go thru and to know that she did it for Joe, and Joe fighting so hard to gain her trust and love. This book is a must read... I was also on a emotional roller coaster reading Comanche Heart. What Amy went through is something that most people never recover from, but the fact that Swift saved her twice and the things he himself had to go through. So out of all of Catherine's books these are the ones that gave me emotional whip lash...

The book that still gets me every time is Phantom Waltz. Perhaps an obvious choice, but I love it. I cry every time I read it. I love that Ryan is smitten with Bethany from the first meeting, even after realizing her situation. He's not afraid to love someone who's different and overlooked by other men. He might be afraid in the begnning of how to handle himself with her, but he never seems afraid of falling in love with her. From the very first, he is willing to do whatever it takes, first to just get her to go out on a date, and eventually to win her heart. We should all be so lucky to have a man so determined to make our life perfect. He throws himself in front of a bear to protect her, and in the end he is willing to walk away from his life to become a "city slicker" if that's what she needs.

I guess I should have entered the favorite hero contest. I really do love the book as a whole though.

Beth

Beth, you may have skipped entering the Favorite Hero contest, but I have a Favorite Heroine contest going for this month. The details are elsewhere on the Board, and this time I hope you will decided to go for it. I love the way you express yourself and it would be a treat to see your entry.

I love those words "city slicker". All Catheirne books stir up emotions and you dont forget them. I love to go back to them now and again to get them fresh in my mind. You are right though Ryan is lovely.

I agree Michelle, all her books are emotional and that's why I love them. When you can cry real tears over a fictional character or laugh out loud over something, it's a good book in my opinion.

Thank you Catherine! My head just swelled a few sizes. I've always been better at writing out my thoughts than trying to voice them out loud. In person, I always think of the right thing to say about 3 minutes too late.

I'll see what I can do about a contest entry....I'll have to go back and read all my favorites to make sure I make an informed decision!
