"August Contest Information"
 
I was astounded and delighted at the intense interest the June/July contest generated. Entries for Your Favorite Catherine Anderson Hero flooded in, and it was obvious that every contestant felt passionate about her candidate. It gave me an idea (I know, I know…uh oh!)
This month’s contest is to Nominate Your Favorite Catherine Anderson Heroine. Which of the women I’ve written about did you feel closest to? Who did you most strongly identify with? Whose joys flooded you with happiness, whose tragedies brought tears to your eyes, whose issues hit home and made you root for her? In her dealings with the hero, which heroine’s struggle and personal issues grabbed you by the heartstrings and refused to let go?
Again, I’m not looking for a Pulitzer Prize winning entry here, just a heartfelt description of why your particular nominee appealed so strongly to you. The prize, again, will be a mini-spa basket including bath goodies, a candle, Godiva chocolates, an autographed book, and a couple of other surprises, besides, so it’s definitely worth the effort.

Not much time left to get your entries in. Who is your favorite heroine? Fewer entries than last month mean you have a better chance to win that prize basket. The winning entry will be posted in the new letters, which should be up very soon. Again this month, it was a tough pick. Nearly thirty of you entered. After you've read the beautifully written and eloquent winning entry, you may be surprised, as I was, to learn that Kaitie is only fourteen years old. She has attended many special writing camps and classes, and is currently working on her first novel. I wish her every success and look forward to seeing her Young Adult novel in print.
