"Fed up"

I have read book after book after book now, where the lead lady is perfect!
To be honest it puts me off after a while. Skinny waist, large breasts, petite but well rounded. Thats why i love Catherine books. Why every woman in these other books have to have the perfect figure and looks i do not know. But it is no wonder people are so paranoid about the way they look. Reading these last few books have made me feel unsexy and paranoid. I am using pretty good at just letting it go over my head. But a few people who i enjoy talking about books with have agreed with me. You can be attractive without being perfect. Just as Catherine has shown us.

My nearly 5 year old daughter who now plays with barbie has alredys atrted comparing herself to the doll. It makes me feel ill hearign her. I dont want her to be unhappy with her looks.

It is very hard. Anyone else feel the same? I think thats why i loved sweet nothings so much.

I agree with you Michelle, that's what makes each of Catherine's books so treasured by all of us. It's hard to find a writer that writes in real life. I think alot of the romance books are geared towards 16 to 20 year olds. Sometimes I just read regular fiction. Right now I'm reading two different books, three cups of tea and beautiful joe. I'm reading very slow right now. The babies occuppy alot of my time when I get home from work and after they go to sleep I'm emailing my son.

PS I wouldn't worry about the typing, Michelle, ever start typing with your fingers on the wrong keys? It's like looking at a foreign language.

When i mail my husband in work he never knows what i am on about. I used to do alot of typingfor a living. You wouldn't think this now. Since my illness and having my daughter my whole life has turned upside down and my body shape.

Oh, I'm fine. The fires in Oregon is really bothering my breathing today. I wish I had better health care so I can get the medicines I need. I don't know why I even pay for it out of my pay when I can't afford to use it. It's not right. But other than my complaint for the day everything else is normal. Our Littles are good and growing and saying new words. You know Michelle, when I married my second husband we tried for a couple years to have a baby and we just couldn't make that happen. Now here we are raising our grandkids just a few years later. Maybe it was meant to be. If we had had a baby or two back then we might not have been able to step in and raise these wonderful little boys now. Ugh, I'm going to be 60 when Cubby is 18.

Im sure they love you very much. You are very special raising them. I find it hard sometimes with my daughter. She does get awfully lonely but she does like the same things as me. And yes she said she is going to marry a cowboy and become a vet. Exactly same dreams i had as a young one. Maybe hers will happen i dont know. As long as they are happy and you do your best is what my grandad told me. Oh how i miss him.

I never could get into books where the heroine was so perfect and pristine that I had a feeling one hair out of place would cause a panic. Even as a child, I wondered why they at least didn't sneeze once in a while.

I have found a few authors now that dont have perfect looking heroes and heroines. But its hard waiting for their books to come out.

If we all looked perfect it would be boring. And i have noticed, people find different peeople attractive. You may think someone s beautiful and the next may not.

I blame alot on tv. They expect too much and we all want to look like them. Which is a reason i turned to books.

So much media is directed to the beautiful, the famous, the prominent, and those perceived as perfect or nearly so, that I think it's been made far more important than the more basic and enduring qualities that build strong relationships and strong families. None of my characters will ever be perfect, any more than real live people are perfect.

Hip Hip Horay! for imperfections. Ah perfection is in the eye of the beholder. I'd much rather read about characters with beautiful minds and hearts than resemble the latest thing splashed on the cover of magazines.

If a reader can't identify with the heroine she is not going to believe in the story. My heroines (and heroes) will never be too perfect. I couldn't possibly make myself believe they were real people.
