"pregnancy"

Can you believe it is only approx 7 weeks until i am due to have my baby. It seems not long ago i was on here longing for a baby and now it is coming closer to the time. I am gaining alot of weight now and sort of walk with a waddle. I get upset about it sometimes but i am finally getting what i wanted. A baby before i go on my new medication for life. Still does not feel real. There is so much going on in my house that i do not think i will believe it until i am holding him in my arms. I have to say i am dreading the birth. And of course everyone is telling me their horror stories. I have been through it before so i know what to expect but i am more nervous now than i was then.

I was in labour 20 hours with the first. My sisters were both between 7-14days late with their second and had a harder time on there second than their first. I am just hoping mine isn't so bad. I have the cyst to contend with but we are hoping it will burst in labour and not before.

As for my husband rubbing my back, he did not do that or hold my hand he sat in a chair whle i held onto my gas and air for dear life afraid someone would take it away from me. When i was first in labour i was sent home they said it was too early for a first baby in the contractions and that i had a long time. I explained i had left it long but they had no room for me so sent me home. I only got to the round about before we had to turn around and i got wheeled in as could not stand. She was coming.

At the moment the hospital near me has been shut down and we have to travel further. People have been getting to this hospital only to be turned away to go and find another. 2 of my friends have recently gave birth at the side of the road because of this. We pay a good amount for medical treatment each month but still there are problems so i am to be honest a little worried. My husband panicked last time going through red lights and trying to flag down police escort.

I didn't know you were that close either! Time to get really excited about it (not that you weren't from the start!). I am sending prayers for an easy last 7 weeks and an even eaiser and speedy delivery. Just think what the end result will be, that little boy in your arms!

Thank you. It is only just hitting me that my grandad will not be here to meet him. He will have his name though. It is just sad that my son will never know him.

You know the worst thing. I am feeling pressure already before i even had the baby to lose all the weight. Watching all these celebrities and young mums that seem to shed the pounds is really hard. I am gaining alot of weight now, especially on face arms and legs aswell as tummy. It is going to drive me over the edge. I had to fight to lose weight after my daughter and that was at the ages of 25 so will be harder this time.I am not even over eating i am eating normal. I am eating things i would not normally eat like diary products and bread. We just cannot afford for myself to eat separate meals anymore.

Well... You're not a celebrity with a diet coach, personal trainer and a flock of nannys and other geeks to take away the baby from you because you need to do sports for eight hours a day. You're a mother, you just need to be concerned with the new life and keeping yourself healthy as can be.
You're in the last part of your pregnancy, what you gain now is partly water and it'll disappear on its own. You can think about the rest after the delivery.
I wish you all the best and keep my fingers crossed for you!
I'm not that far beyond the 25 myself, but at least a little bit, and I've lost 10 kg recently. A friend even lost more than 30 kg. It's possible. You'll do it!
If you want to talk about food and diet traps, I'll be available per pm

I am terrible with food. I am obsessed with chocolate and cake and get the shakes if i do not have chocolate.

I can do without meals but not without a cup of tea an chocolate biscuit. I cannot exercise much because of my condition but i am aiming to do some once back on medication.

These celebrities do not even look like they have had babies let alone receintly. I am going to work hard but try not to obsess about it i want to enjoy my kids. This will be my last baby. I am 31 now.

My sister is pregnant aswell and due same time as me. She sheds weight really fast and i do not unfortunately. I only got to look at food and i put it on.

Time seems to travel at the speed of light, Michelle. I didn't realize you were that close, either. How terrific that you will soon have that little boy to hold and love! Is your daughter getting really excited about being a big sister now that the arrival is so close? Do you have an exact due date? If the hospital near to you has closed, how far do you need to travel to get to another one?

The last few weeks of pregnancy can be rough. I remember thinking that I wouldn't care if the doctor took the baby out through the top of my head, as long as he was out, safe, and healthy!

It took us 45 minutes on a test run. It depends when i go into labour really as it is a relly busy area. My friend said when she left that hospital as she was turned away after 40 minutes of her getting there it took another 40 minutes to get to the other hospital.

My daughter is very excited and talks about it constantly and tells everyone about it. And the story of how the baby will be named after her great grampy. I am due, according to the lady doing the scan it is 17th April and according to the midwives it is the 20th april. So any time around there. My sister who is due after me is actually going in to have hers before me.

I will have a consltant present at my birth or at least in the area because of complications. The midwives didn't want me to give birth without a doctor being near they are worried. But the doctor does not seem all that bothered to be honest. NHS treatment for you.

I wouldn't try to talk you out of chocolate. I'm the same with liquorice.
It worked for me to stop eating between meals. For lunch I allow myself something sweet for dessert.
And sports don't have to be hard workouts. You could start taking the baby for a walk in his baby buggy every day. You'd be doing the baby and yourself a favour breathing fresh air and it wouldn't cost a cent. Just keep moving as good as you can.
Maybe the Paul McKenna Method would be something for you. There's loads on the internet and he wouldn't take your cookies away either...
The worst you could do would be eating too little. You loose weight quickly, but you put it on again afterwards even quicker. And don't deny yourself something completely. You'd just get cravings and eat even more of whatever it was.

What does it matter how long it takes? I'm impatient as well, I want an ideal body by yesterday, sure. But I wouldn't want a skin that didn't shrink as fast as I did As long as I take care for myself everything is ok. And it's only healthy to be a little bit selfish every now and then.

It is strange as i have never eaten alot. I have low fat cereal for breakfast usually fruit and yoghurt for lunch (usually a sandwich now pregnant) and a small meal for dinner and cup of tea with a biscuit(chocolate) in the evening.

Maybe you eat less than you should. Have you ever kept a food diary and checked if you take in enough calories to meet your needs? Because if you don't, your body will necessarily get accustomed to little sustenance and keep the metabolism down. If you loose weight, you loose muscles, not fat, that decreases the energy the body needs and you start gaining though you eat very little because your body thinks there's a famine and it needs everything it can get. It's a vicious circle.
End of story: It's really really important to eat enough and eat healthy things. Don't go below your own basal metabolic rate. To loose weight it's best to be between 70 and 80% of your total metabolic rate. There are calculators on the net to get to know your own rates. http://fddb.info/db/en/index.html
There is also a database to check on the calories of your food and how much protein, fat or carbs are in it. After a while you'll know how much you ate without it. You'll be shocked though what amounts of sugar and fat hide in some inconspicuous things. Most salad dressings are mean. Apples are little sugar bombs, oranges are better. I'm so glad I never liked them much, I'm more into vegetables if I need anything for between meals. And recently a friend told me to do my salad dressing with just lemon juice, herbs and a spoon olive oil. It's great. I still use yoghurt for cucumber salad though... but cucumbers are water with dietary fiber, so what?

She's so right, Michelle. Eat right and take care of yourself. (The salad dressing, by the way, sounds delicious...I must try it.) I watch what I eat pretty carefully, as does my husband. The idea of taking the baby for a walk in a carriage or stroller is terrific. It combines exercise with giving the little one fresh air and sunshine (well, at least fresh air?). I loved taking my boys for walks when they were little. It was so much fun to see them look wide-eyed at the world, and as time went on, learn to explore and embrace it.
