"What are you reading?----December 17...."

I thought I'd start a new topic since we're in a new month now.

I'm reading Black Ice by Sandy Curtis, an Australian author.
So far the book is taking place in Noosa, here on the Sunshine Coast, so I have a clear picture of the setting.

Kathleen Givens "Kilgannon" & "The Wild Rose of Kilgannon". Debbie Macomber "Mrs Miracle" and Hannah Howell "If he's Wicked".

Tonight I plan to start Anna Campbell's "Captive of Sin". I found this book in Target yesterday - I was under the impression the release date for Australia wasn't until early next year so I got a very pleasant surprise when I saw it on the new release shelf!

Dianne,
Australia

>Dianne,

Dianne, have you signed up for Anna's mailing list? I received an email a couple of days ago to let everyone know that the book would be available this weekend.

I'm reading Hot on Her Heels by Susan Mallery

   Joan,

I am on Anna Campbell's mailing list - I also received that email!

I finished "Captive of Sin" yesterday and I have to say IT IS BRILLIANT! Anna Campbell's books are so refreshingly different from other romance novels. Gideon the leading man, who I must say is one hell of a good leading man, I fell in love with his character, is heavily scarred both mentally and physically. You would never call him the 'perfect' hero but he is and his story is so harrowing - you must read this book it is wonderful.

Dianne,
Australia

While on the cruise I finished the Diana Gabaldon Firey Cross then I had loaded on my Kindle2 (boy was it nice not to have to pack a bunch of books!)...the newest JD Robb, Kindred in Death, then I started the new Linda Howard, ICE. I had a few others loaded but never got to them...too much going on all the time to sit and read, but I got plenty of time on my veranda or out on deck to sit and read.

I just enjoyed "Dancing at Midnight" by Julia Quinn. Not my favorite by this author, but most of her books are of consistent quality.

I read a really funny Christmas book this week by Dave Barry. something about "Angels, the manger and Walter the Christmas Miracle Dog". Dave Barry can always make me laugh so loud, my kids come to see what is going on. It is told from the perspective of a pubescent male--I like seeing the world as my son might see it. Guys sure think differently. Novels by men and women certainly have different flavors.

I dreamed of one of my favorite novels last night. "Paradise" by Judith McNaught. Christmas at Bancrofts with fabulous black tie parties and snow are the back drop for this incredibly romantic story that I have read many times in the last decade. Of course, my Christmas entertainment is more like potluck dinners and sleighriding with the kids. I guess that is why books are such a treat.
