I thought we'd better have a new post for a new year

I finished Susan Crandall's Sleep No More a few days ago - a great read.

Now I'm reading Jacaranda Vines by Tamara McKinley

Happy reading for 2010 everyone

Of course I read EARLY DAWN! I had started Susan Elizabeth Phillips' LADY BE GOOD, but stopped in the middle when I found EARLY DAWN.

I then started the next Diana Gabaldon, Breath of Snow. Still working my way through the series.

Seeing as I am reading it on the Kindle2, I'll take a break at the end of one of the "Parts' and pick up something 'lite' to read. I have the Nicholas Sparks book, Dear John sitting on my table to read again. We were at the movies this past week and saw a preview for the movie and thought I'd do a quick reread of it.

I really liked Dear John. Im feeling so-so about the movie because so many times movies just don't live up to the books imo.

I just finished Susan Wiggs' Just Breathe. Its a very touching book, which I loved. Susan Wiggs is growing on me, her novels have a very down-to earth vibe to them... touching and realistic, and are a good lite read.

I think I am going to pick up either a Julia Quinn or Mary Balogh next... I'm feeling kinda like a historical now.

What did you think of Three's a Crowd Dianne? I really enjoyed it.

I've never read anything by Kathleen Givens but it was sad to hear of her sudden death last week. From what I've read it sounds as though she'll be sorely missed.

Lee,
I have that book and read it a while ago - it was very good. I think I told you that at the time but hey we talk so much about books it is easy for us both to forget things like that!

I have just finished Robyn Carr's "Forbidden Falls". I would have thought after 8 books in a series that things would start to go downhill - how wrong was I!!!!!! I never thought I'd like a book in the Virgin River series more than "Shelter Mountain" but Robyn Carr has surprised me and written a book that leaves that book for dead in my favourite book of the series list. This was such an incredibly good book - my husband got annoyed at me when he rolled over in bed and saw it was 2.45am and I was still reading! He woke up at 8am and I was still reading - I had to convince him I did have 4 hours sleep during the night but the garbage men woke me up at 7am and I thought good now I can get back to the book! It's the truth I made myself turnoff the bedside lamp and get a few hours of sleep but I tell you what it was very hard to do!

Dianne,
Australia

Lee, yes I have befriended Anna but I don't go into Facebook very often so I tend to catch up on her news on her website. I don't know when she finds time to write She always seems to be busy blogging or writing a review or something.

I was packing up the nursing home books today and I came across Gabriel's Angel by Nora Roberts.
I remember you saying it was good so I decided to read it before it goes back to the library.

Today I received in the post Laura Kinsale's "Lessons in French" I'll start that book tonight.

Happy reading everyone!

Kathy, the books were very good. I have loved everything I have read of Susan Wiggs. I own 22 SW books and haven't been disappointed once - mind you I still have a few of them I haven't had a chance to read yet! I particularly liked The Firebrand - I like books that involve children especially when they are as well written as this book was. I saw on her website that she has a new book out soon. I'll wait until it is in paperback though.

Lee, which one is that?...I

It's where she comes home to Land that her Mother owned... The McLean's Family has been looking after it for her... She has her little brother to look after... And meets a lady and her little daughter in a motel... The woman doesn't like what work she is doing and goes to live with Summer and her brother on there land...

The McLean's land is very self sufficent... Slater has a Scar on his face from the man that murder his Pa...

Reminds me a lot of "Forever Victoria"...

Jules also have a look on f/b at u'r friends request... I sent u a friends request for AH on there... Her and I have been sending a few inbox msgs to each other... She is really a lovely lady... And by memory I think she is currently writing another historical...

Have you read it yet Dianne? And dont you just love her bookcovers especially the Lakeshore covers i think they are awesome.

I don't think I own Lakeshore Christmas - I'll have to check. She is a wonderful author Kathy. Her covers are very good aren't they.

Joan, how are you liking Forbidden Falls? I absolutely loved this book - mind you I have loved everything Robyn Carr has written. I read a review on this book and I had to disagree with everything that was written. Obviously this person didn't like it that much but conceded that RC fans would love it!

A few days ago I planned to start Lessons in French by Laura Kinsale but decided against starting a new book since I have to return to work tomorrow. Being engrossed in a book would make returning to work just that little bit harder to do!

I've been revisiting all my favourite scenes from the books I have loved the most. I do this when I don't have time to start a new book.

Dianne,
Australia

Hello,

Right now I'm re-reading Catherine Andersons Comanche series. Tomorrow I will go out and buy the new releases that I've been waiting for for what seems like forever.

Linda Lael Miller, Robin Carr, Kay Hooper, Beverly Barton, and Allison Brennan all have new books coming out.

I just finished re-reading all of Robin Carr's Virgin River and Grace Valley books along with the newest one. Re-reading them is like going back to visit old friends.

Over the last few years I have been keeping most of the books I buy because I really do enjoy reading them more than once. Used books stores are great for finding older releases of some of my favorite authors that have series out there that I haven't read in ages.

Terri

Terri isn't Robyn Carr wonderful! The Virgin River series just keeps on getting better - she is an amazing author. I own almost all of her books except for some of the out-of-print books. I have my fingers crossed that they will be re-released very soon.

Like you, I keep all of my books so you can imagine what my place is like. My daughter is moving out of home to go to university in a few weeks time and I have great hopes of putting a sofa bed into her room (so she has a bed when she visits home) and making her bedroom into a library for myself. A comfy chair and my books around me I think that would be the perfect place to get lost in one of my books! As you can imagine my daughter is not impressed!

Happy reading,

Dianne,
Australia

>Joan, how are you liking Forbidden Falls? I absolutely loved this book - mind you I have loved everything Robyn Carr has written. I read a review on this book and I had to disagree with >everything that was written. Obviously this person didn't like it that much but conceded that RC fans would love it!

Dianne, I loved Forbidden Falls - definitely my favourite Virgin River book.
I haven't read the reviews yet but I'll be having a look now that I've finished the book.

Speaking of books that we've both read - I guess you didn't see my question in one of my posts above. I've been wondering what you thought of Three's a Crowd by Dianne Blacklock?
I really enjoyed it.

Kathy, Flying the Coop is the first book I've read by Ilsa Evans but I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. It really appeals to my sense of humour - I've been laughing my head off all afternoon while reading it.

I've seen her books in bookshops but never picked one up and I only recently realised that she's an Aussie writing stories set here in Australia.

Now that both Kathy and Joan are reading "Flying the Coop" I'll start reading it too. I need a good laugh at the moment!

I am reading another Marliss Melton book and its great. If anyone likes Seals and some adventue and romance and sometimes children thrown in to make the Seals soft and gentle then i can recommend this series. I should be doing some more housework today but i might have to finish this book first.

I'm reading Passing Through Paradise by Susan Wiggs.

The only problem with it is the hero's name.
It's Mike Malloy and I keep picturing Aussie comedian Mick Molloy who's not at all like the description of Susan's hero in the book.

I'm still waiting on the library for Lakeshore Christmas. I guess maybe they are waiting for the paperback because they always get Susan's new releases for the collection so I'm surprised that they don't have this one yet.
There is a copy in another library district where I'm a member so I'll probably end up borrowing it from there.

I hate it when I'm half way through a series and then one comes out in hardback
