""Here To Stay" Feedback"

Gulp! Okay ... what do you all think? Professional reviews certainly have their place, but I have always felt that the true measure of a book is how it's received by the readers who look for the author's work and know it well.

I have had a few questions about where you all can write or call to support guide horses being added to the list of acceptable service animals. It's the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. The contact information is up on my website bulletin board and includes a telephone number, a snail mail address, and an e-mail contact.

I loved it! I think I have a crush on Zach now. I loved the cameos by other Harrigan/Coulter/Kendrick family members. The scene where the brothers all come racing over after the TV interview was hilarious.

I had no idea guide horses existed until you started writing this book. Now I think it's a shame the government decided to ban them as guide animals.

Can't wait for Comanche Magic!

Beth

I really enjoyed Here to Stay. I agree that the scene after the tv interview was hilarious. One thing I love about the Harrigan brothers is how much love they have for each other. As mad as they were with Zach, they quickly put their anger aside after he told them why he was doing what he was doing. His brothers still didn't "get it" but at least they were willing to swallow their anger and support him.

There were times when I would have loved to help Luke with his attitude. Spoiled brat! But I guess I can understand his reasons. We all make mistakes. Thank goodness he came around and grew up a bit!

My heart broke for Mandy. It amazes me how much she went through yet still had a heart of gold. I can see why Zach fell for her. The scene in the horse barn tore me to pieces. When Tornado ran to her and found shelter in her arms I cried!

Thankfully, I've never known anyone as vicious and heartless as Tobin. But man, oh man! What I wouldn't do to be left in a room with him for 5 minutes. He'd find out real quick that it's true....small things do pack a mighty punch! LOL

I think it's sad that mini horses have been banned. It's a real shame. I personally don't understand why they would be banned. I don't see a difference between a mini horse and a dog.

Steph

"Here to Stay" is a fabulous book. It has to be difficult to pull the elements of a mystery, a romance, weave in the damage left by past family dynamics, turn a bitter blind man into someone we didn't want to kick out of the book a third of the way through, bring a new level of social awareness to an important subject, and use the horses to be able to weave the new family together and help the 2 new members of the extended Harrigan family to heal their hearts. You delivered another winner to us. I haven't read any professional reviews, don't usually. But you got the 6-tissue, 4-what award from me. That's when I spend time in a book looking for a tissue to wipe tears and sit giggling quietly in the corner while reading until my husband finally says, "What?" and I have to set up the scene and share what I'm reading.

I too enjoyed your book Catherine. I felt for Zach as he loved Mandy so much and it was tough going for him with all the problems she had in her life. Luke was a pain in the neck but he came good so that was pleasing. The storyline around the horses was interesting as i had not heard of guide horses before.

I would have liked a bit more romance between Zach and Mandy there wasent enough for me.

I picked a very busy time in my life to read Here To Stay so it took me longer than usual. I have to say I now think it is my all time favorite Catherine Anderson book! I have enjoyed each book in this series and I can hardly wait to see what happens with Quincy! I hope that when Tobin Pajeck was creating himself for you Catherine that he filled in all the blanks and the punishment for his heinous crimes. I must admit that I worried about Luke, but as usual, it all came together in a most excellent way.

I agree with a friend of mine that the language in this more historical than contemporary. However I liked the characters, plot, and setting. It is a bit darker than most Catherine Anderson books, but quite intriguing. I wanted to learn more about guide horses, the training they go thru and the usefulness of the animals to those in need.
