"Discussion for Drop Dead Gorgeous by Linda Howard"

Definite spoiler's ahead so if you haven't read the book yet don't read any further, ladies...

I finished DDG on Friday and loved it! After checking out the reviews on Amazon this morning though, it occurred to me that some people didn't enjoy it as much as me. Which got me wondering... did my friends enjoy it?

One lady called it redundant and maybe I can understand where her train of thought is coming from but I wouldn't call it that. In regards to time frame it's only been 2 months since To Die For so it would stand to reason that Wyatt and Blair would pick up exactly where they left off. At least to me. I was happy with the progress of the characters and that as Blair tried her tricks with the lists etc, she was starting to realise how unfair she was being to Wyatt and she couldn't do things to him.

I loved Wyatt. He was soooo alpha. YUM! I loved the way he cared for her, stopped her in her tracks when she got out of hand and locked her in the squad car. OMG, I was ripped. I laughed and laughed while reading that. Wyatt is a trip. Blair is a even bigger trip. You know what the best part was? When she chewed all that gum and stuck those signs almost covering all the windows. HEHEHEHEHE...

My two favorites were "Size Matters" and "Wyatt is a jackass and the wedding is off!"...

His reaction was so priceless. I liked that she didn't see what was so funny about the cop's keeping the notes and sticking it on his door. When she lost her voice... LOL LOL LOL..

I have to admit that I understood some of her reasoning. I would also say some of the things she did if the opportunity came.

Remember this opening line: My name is Blair Mallory, and I'm trying to get married, but the Fates are NOT cooperating…I hate the Fates, don't you? Whoever the dumb bitches are.

Hehehe... Yes, I always wanted to know who the Fate's were too. She shouldn't have called them "dumb bitches" though. Don't make the Fates mad, I say. They can get you back big time!

I would definitely love another Blair and Wyatt book. But don't think Linda Howard can use the "someone is trying to kill Blair" scene again.

OMG, how funny was it that she went back for her shoes in the fire!

I loved that part and have always wondered how I would grab everything I want in case of fire... Tee Hee Hee...

So ladies, did you enjoy the books as much as I did?

Rika

I loved it too Rika.

At first it felt too much like To Die For but, even though it was along similar lines, I soon got caught up in the 'Blairisms'.

I loved that she was trying to make lists of Wyatt's transgressions but then realised that she couldn't really blame him for some things. The 'signs all over the windows' was one of my favourite parts too. And when they went back to Wyatt's after the fire and she refused to let him share a shower because he needed to 'meditate on the enormity of his sins'.

I thought it was hilarious,

Joan

I loved it! I had read To Die For when it first came out, and DH got me DDG on CD (audio) for my birthday, but I wanted to 'revist' TDF before listening to DDG so I found it on CD too.

I love TDF but the person who read it (Franette Liebow) had such a 'whinney' voice that it made Blair sound more like a 'ding-bat' then she came off in the book.

The person who read DDG did a much better job (and I don't know who that is right now, I sold the CD within 30 minutes of going up on Amazon.com) and made Blair sound more like just normal person. (which I'm not sure she is).

Anyways I loved them both!

Joyce Bean I think is who did Blair the second time. She does almost all of the LInda Howard and Julie Garwood books. I LOVE her voice. She is my favorite, but I have to tell you that I am listening to Julie Garwood's Slow Burn and I don't care for the way she does a southern voice, as she keeps slipping in and out of her accent, but I do LOVE her reading, so I will try and buy DDG and see. I trust your opinion Lynda

As for the book...OH MY! I LOVED IT!!!! I laughed so hard I snorted when she was sticking all the notes on the squad windows, and then when she kicked Wyatt's ex wife(can't remember her name lol) at the end, j ust killed me.

I would LOVE to see a third..this time with Blair either pregnant or with a baby; no, pregnant I think. Can you imagine how funny that would be. It would amp up her antics and amp up Wyatts trying to keep her out of trouble...she could be making a list of his trangressions while in labor...HAAAAAAAAA!!

LOVED IT!

Kristie, Troy's wife(88) momma to Jordan(8-31-90 - 9-14-90), Brooke(91) and Cody, aka the Codeman(94)

Didn't she break her toe because she kicked Megan? I was rolling after reading that. It was said so casually!

What about SDS? I felt like clapping after that one! LOL

And when she tried to bribe DeMarius with Krisy Kreme Doughnut Bread?

The reaction the cops had to her kitchen knife was priceless too!

Okay, one more... She notarized her list! AHAHAHAHAHAHA....

Kristie, it would be so funny to read her thoughts while she was in labour. Does anyone know if there'll be another book?

I loved DDG. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard.

I loved how Wyatt seemed to take everything she did all in stride.

I loved the notes on the windows.

Oh and the notarized list. God that was good. Wonder if that would work for me with the hubby?

Yes I think a book with Blair pregnant would just be hillarious. I know what kind of mood swings I had when I was pregnant, I bet Blairs would be off the charts.
