"Do reformed Rakes make the best Husbands?"

All you historical readers have heard that phrase over and over again and since most of us seem to like the bad boys....we tend to buy into it....however I recently read a book where the Hero was truly reprehensible......So many years of dissipitated self indulgence or Hedonistic pleasure....I had trouble w/him as a hero. Of course he fell head over Heels for the heroine and miraculously is willing to give up all his rakish ways....but.....I really found that his past was soooooooooooo that I couldnt' buy it.

I like my reformed Rakes to be of the Anthony Malory, Anthony Bridgerton or even Cyster variety....Strong confident men who've had a colorful past......I don't generally think of depraved. Once or twice even a really bad boy has one me over which shocked me like St James in Devil in Winter but this character I just read about seemed more to me to be just a tad to far gone when he couldn't even remember who he'd been with, their name or becasue he was regularly so sloshed if he even did the deed! Not the strong confident Alpha I tend to lean towards.....yet we are introduced to a very tender side of him...so that is why I ask the question.....

Well, I was about to answer this, but my sister and Hailey and Colin just pulled up and we're about to take them to the County Fair for Children's Day....

I'll try to get back with you with my thoughts later on today. But the answer, for me, is yes they do!!!!

I would like to think that reformed Rakes make the best husbands. When the right woman comes along anything is possible.

I will have to agree, but then, you know how I love a bad boy!

There is NO excuse for abuse!
